Freelance tutors on the rise

Freelance academic tutors on the rise
It seems soon I will be having a meal online without visiting a restaurant or my kitchen. Everything is going online. Even going to sleep might go viral online. Internet technology is taking the world by storm and education is not spared either. Large companies are taking inquiries and complaints online via Facebook and Twitter. It is unavoidable.
I keep wondering what will happen to our lecturers, tutors and professors who derived fun in their somewhat intimidating lectures and speeches. These teachers and tutors are so used to old ways of teaching that I suspect they might be jobless soon. Reason is, freelancers are taking over the role of teaching. I tend to believe that most tutors only chose to be tutors because they were good in class and/or wanted employment. Passion for teaching did not matter in their quest to deliver knowledge.

Creativity in teaching
Apart from engineering, health sciences, mathematics, and such fields, creativity in delivering knowledge to students is very important. Students of this age and time do not want to spend so much time trying to crack a concept. This has given creative tutors, with some wit in entrepreneurship, to come in and just tell you how to find an answer in the shortest way possible. Freelance tutors have a unique ability to describe something in simple terms and language.
The trend has been catching up fast especially among students taking online courses. It is even much interesting to note that freelancers sometimes do not ask for payment to render such services. On Facebook for instance, someone can post a problem on psychology and get instant solutions from other students and professionals.

Students and tutors also freelance
It is worth noting that freelance tutors are not only professionally trained but also include senior students. For instance, while I was in campus, I would teach my friends who studied abroad. They were junior while I was on my final year. Economics was my course and I could easily draw and describe oligopoly graphs to them in a paragraph.

Freelance tutors are getting more attention because of their way of doing things. If you are lucky to get smart ones, you will notice such attributes:
  •  They have a unique ability simplify complex concepts and put them in simple English.
  • They are very good in research and collecting pieces together to come up with a good solution/conclusion
  •  They are always friendly and patient with you. Note that you will engage the freelance tutor online so he has to be very smart to deliver the message to you
  • They can handle variety of subjects which is mostly drawn from many years of experience in research he/she has done
  •   Freelance tutors can however tend to be “jack of all trades” which might make them less effective on some subjects.
There you have it. Getting a problem solved as a student is much easier than before. I can always be of help when it comes to economics, business, management and some finance FOR FREE!!
